11/6/2020 - Children’s and Teen Programs for December 2020

The Southbury Public Library Youth Services department is pleased to announce programming for November 2020 for children and teens. Children’s Programs:

Drop-In Storytime - Monday, December 7, 14, 21 & 28 at 10:30 am on Facebook Live Join Miss Ann for stories and songs every Monday. All ages welcome. Crafts available in the Youth Services department while supplies last. No registration required.

Storytime with Katie – Wednesday, December 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 at 10:30 am on Facebook Live Join Miss Katie for stories and songs geared towards toddlers and older. All ages welcome. Crafts available in the Youth Services department while supplies last. No registration required.

Nutmegs at Noon – Thursday, December 3, 10 & 17 at 12:00 pm on Facebook Live Join Miss Heather as we explore the Elementary and Intermediate Nutmeg Nominees. No registration required.

Open House Take & Make Saturday Craft – Saturday, December 5, 12, 19 & 26 Stop by the Youth Services department every Saturday to take home a thematic craft. Available while supplies last.

Food Explorers: Mac & Cheese – Wednesday, December 9 at 5:00 pm on Zoom Let’s make dinner together with Katie Shepherd, Registered Dietitian from Food Explorers. We’re making a healthy version of Mac & Cheese. Ages 7 & up and families. Registration is required.

STEAMonday: Candy Cane Science – Monday, December 14 at 4:00 pm on Facebook Live Join Miss Heather for an afternoon of science fun. This month we’re making candy cane playdough soap & bubble bath. Recommended for ages 7 & up. No registration required.

Holiday Gnome Craft – Thursday, December 17 at 4:30 pm on Zoom Join Miss Katie for gnome themed stories and then make an adorable gnome craft together, perfect for a holiday gift or to keep for yourself. Grades 2-5. Registration required.

Food Explorers: Homemade Fudge – Tuesday, December 29 at 4:00 pm on Zoom It’s winter break and we’re hungry. Join Katie Shepherd, Registered Dietitian from Food Explorers and learn how to make homemade fudge. Ages 7 & up and families. Registration is required.

Teen Programs:

Make and Take Craft: Among Us Crewmate Felt Keychains - Starting Monday, November 30 while supplies last. Pick up complete kits to make a Among Us crewmate felt keychain in the Teen Department starting Monday, November 30. Each kit will have instructions and all supplies needed (except scissors). You can work on the kits in your own time, or you can wait and work on them together with us during our Make and Take Monday Meetup!

Zoom Make and Take Meetup – Monday, December 7 at 4:00 pm on Zoom Join us for our Make and Take Monday Meetup! Join us to work on your Among Us Crewmate Felt Keychain together, or to chat about how it went (note: if you are planning on working on it together, having your felt cut out before the program will help). Grades 6-12. Registration required.

Harry Potter Club: Holiday Ornaments – Wednesday, December 16 at 6:00 pm on Zoom Join us (virtually) for our December Harry Potter Club meeting where we keep up our annual tradition of making holiday ornaments for the 5th year in a row! Pick up supplies from the Youth Services department starting Wednesday, December 9. Grades 6-12. Registration required.
