The Southbury Public Library Youth Services department is thrilled to welcome back the Registered Dietitians from Food Explorers for three programs this December. We’ll be offering a virtual baking program for families, a nutrition program for preschoolers and their caregivers and a holiday cookie decorating program for children in the library.
Food Explorers Online: Gingerbread S’mores Cups – Monday, December 13 at 5:00 pm live on Zoom. Join the Registered Dietitians from Food Explorers to make some delicious No Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake! This recipe is the perfect fall snack, and you’ll need the following ingredients: graham crackers or ginger snaps, brown sugar, butter, heavy cream, cream cheese, sugar, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, cinnamon and nutmeg. You will need an electric mixer. Participants will receive a Zoom link and credentials the morning of the program. Recommended for ages 7 & up. Tiny Food Explorers In-Person – Tuesday, December 14 at 10:00 am in the Kingsley room. Join Tiny Food Explorers for some fun with food! Come and explore new flavors and textures while playing games all about food and MyPlate! You’ll make a hands-on healthy snack that even the pickiest of eaters will be keen to try. You'll frost and decorate your own holiday cookies with a very special twist...you'll color your frosting with fruits! See how by attending this delicious program.
