2/14/2022 - Children’s and Teen Programs for March 2022

The Southbury Public Library Youth Services department is pleased to announce programming for March 2022 for children and teens. We are offering a mix of in-person and virtual events this month. Children’s Programs:

Food Explorers Online: Pumpkin Twists – Wednesday, March 2 at 5:30 pm on Zoom
Join the Registered Dietitians of Food Explorers to make Pumpkin Twists! You'll make your own dough out of Greek yogurt and flavor with pumpkin, cinnamon, and sugar. Ages 7 & up and families. Registration is required.

Storytime with Katie – Wednesday, March 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 at 10:30 am on Facebook Live
Join Miss Katie for stories and songs geared towards toddlers and older. Crafts available in the Youth Services department while supplies last. All ages welcome. No registration required.

Open House Take & Make Craft – Saturday, March 5, 12, 19 & 26
Stop by the Youth Services department every Saturday to take home a thematic craft. Available while supplies last.

Drop-In Storytime – Monday, March 7, 14, 21 & 28 at 10:30 am on Facebook Live
Join Miss Heather for stories and songs every Monday. Crafts available in the Youth Services department while supplies last. All ages welcome. No registration required.

We Love Art – Tuesday, February 8 (Grades 3-5) and Tuesday, February 15 (Grades K-2 at 4:30 pm in the Storytime room
Do you love art? Miss Renee and Miss Katie will host two special art programs. Space is limited. Registration required.

Spring Storytime Registration - begins Monday, March 14.

STEAMonday: St. Patrick’s Crystals – Monday, March 21 at 4:15 pm in the Kingsley Room
Join us for an afternoon of messy science fun as we learn about crystals by making St. Patrick's Day shapes. Please wear something you don't mind getting messy in or bring a covering. Grades 2-5. Registration required.

Build Your Own Sticker Book: Women’s History Month – Tuesday, March 22 at 5 pm in the Kingsley Room.
Celebrate Women's History Month by learning about by building your own fun and engaging sticker book featuring some of the most influential and inspiring women in history! Ages 7 & up and families. Registration is required.

March Bunny Craft – Thursday, March 31 at 4:30 pm in the Kingsley Room
Join Miss Heather and Miss Katie to make a special bunny themed planter. Grades 2-5. Registration required.

Teen Programs:

Teen LitLoot Book Subscription Boxes – Starting Tuesday, March 1
Register anytime for our LitLoot book subscription box and get two book selections customized to you along with some extra added on goodies in this box of book magic! Your box will be ready approximately 1 week after your registration. Grades 6-12.

Teen To-Go Craft Kits: Pocket Pandas – Starting Monday, March 14
Pick up complete kits to make a pocket-sized panda from the Teen Department while supplies last. Each kit will have instructions and all supplies needed (except scissors). Kits are not limited per person, but we ask that you only take what you (and siblings or friends you are crafting with) need. Grades 6-12.

Third Thursday Game Night: Giant Scrabble – Thursday, March 17 from 6-7pm in the Kingsley Room.
Join us in person to play Giant Scrabble! This super-size board game is very similar to the original game, but is super giant and super fun! Grades 6-12. Space is limited. Registration required.

Food Explorers Online: Strawberry Stuffed Cupcakes – Wednesday, March 23 from 5-6pm on Zoom
Join Food Explorers to make Strawberry Stuffed Cupcakes! These vanilla cupcakes are stuffed with an entire strawberry and frosted with whipped cream. Cook along with us over Zoom from the comfort of your very own kitchen. Space is limited for time to answer individual questions and walk everyone through this program. Grades 6-12 and their families. Space is limited. Registration required.

Teen Advisory Board –Tuesday, March 29 from 6-7 pm in the Youth Services Tutor Corner
We are looking for creative, energetic volunteers in grades 6-12 who are interested in making a difference at the Southbury Public Library! Teen Advisory Board (TAB) members can directly influence our teen book and AV collections, teen programming and events, and other teen services. Each monthly meeting opens with a discussion about ideas for programs, materials, and more and closes out with some special volunteer projects. If you are interested in serving on the Teen Advisory Board, you can apply to be considered on our website at www.southburylibrary.org/tab.
