5/23/2022 - Nutmeg Nominee Book Club: The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen on June 27, 2022

The Southbury Public Library invites interested teens in Grades 6-8 to join us for our first meeting of our Middle School Nutmeg Nominee Book Club to discuss The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 4-5pm in the Brown Room.

Join us as we read through all of the 2023 Middle School Nutmeg Nominees together! This month, we'll be reading The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen! Pick up your book from the Teen Department anytime during library open hours to read before the book club meeting. Voting for the 2023 Nutmegs takes place in April 2023, and this is a fun and social way to read all of this year's Nutmegs. This book club will continue on the fourth Monday of the month as we read through the rest of the Middle School Nutmegs; you may attend all meetings or just the ones you are interested in. Registration is required. Learn more and register on the library’s website at

The Nutmeg Nominees are potential titles for next year’s Nutmeg Book Award. The Nutmeg Book Award encourages children and teens in Grades 2-12 to choose their favorite from a list of nominated titles. Four awards are given annually: Elementary (Grades 2-3), Intermediate (Grades 4-6), Middle School (Grades 7-8), and High School (Grades 9-12).

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library, free, and open to residents of any town who are in Grades 6-8.
