12/19/2022 - Wednesday at the Movies in January 2023

Wednesday afternoon movies are being shown at Southbury Public Library, starting on the second Wednesday of the month. These are offered free to the public, but registration is requested. To Register: call 203-262-0626 ext 130 or go online at www.southburylibrary.org.

The Southbury Public Library is excited to show these films on our new 4-K HD projector which was a recent gift by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.

The first film, on January 11th, is a classic favorite. This film is based on the famous book with the same title. Young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado from their Kansas farm to the magical Land of Oz, and embark on a quest with three new friends to see the Wizard, who can return her to her home and fulfill the others' wishes.

The January 18th film is a sequel to the 1980’s film of the similar name about naval aviators. Tom Cruise returns as Maverick, and leads a new team of elite TOP GUN graduates after thirty years. The cast includes Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Jennifer Connelly

The January 25th film is an adaptation of the Ann Leary book of the same name. This film follows realtor Hildy Good as she tries to recover her life. The cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Kevin Kline, and Morena Baccarin.

Because of licensing and copyright agreements, the Library cannot list the titles of the films, which are sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library. All the films start at 1:00 pm in the Kingsley Meeting Room Surround Sound Theater. All have closed captions, and an infrared listening system is available.
