1/4/2023 - Southbury 350th Anniversary Kickoff - An American Pop Music Time Machine

On Saturday, January 14th, 2023 from 1-2:30pm in the Kingsley Room, join us for the kickoff of Southbury’s 350 Anniversary celebration with a musical journey through history with Rick Spencer and Dawn Indermuehle.

"An American Pop Music Time Machine" is a musical voyage through American History, using popular songs from our past as a medium to connect to our cultural heritage. This presentation will reference significant times and events in the history of the town of Southbury.

Rick Spencer and Dawn Indermuehle develop a series of theme-based music and history programs. They present songs that give cultural insight into interesting times, places and events in American history. Rick and Dawn carefully craft their vocals and accompaniment to sound as true to a song’s era or style as possible. Their vast repertoire includes music from the Colonial era to the present day. Rick and Dawn use these songs to illustrate the evolution of our nation’s culture and history in an informative and entertaining way.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this program is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. Please visit the link below for more information and to register.

The Town of Southbury will be holding a series of events and activities to celebrate the last 350 years of community, culture and history. These celebrations, while largely focused on the past, will also highlight the present, as history is being made every day and is all around us.
