On Saturday, February 25th, 2023 from 1-2:30pm live in the Kingsley Room and streamed to Zoom, join us for an exploration of the works of Mary Oliver with Faith Vicinanza.
Join us for an immersion into the poetry and person of Mary Oliver. Bring your favorite Mary Oliver poem to share, or come to listen and soak up the magic and wisdom of Mary Oliver.
Mary Oliver was one of our greatest and most beloved poets. She is often quoted by people across ages and backgrounds — and it’s fitting, since she described poetry as a sacred community ritual. “When you write a poem, you write it for anybody and everybody,” she said.
Faith Vicinanza is a published poet and visual artist who has resided in Southbury since 2016. Ms. Vicinanza has published 4 books of poetry, with 3 more on the way. She was the host of the longest weekly poetry reading in state history. She also created and directed a five day National Poetry Championship in Middletown in 1997 and the Connecticut Poetry Festival that same year. She was also a nominee for State Poet Laureate in 2000.
Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this program is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. Please visit the link below for more information and to register.
