6/19/2023 - Mel Brooks: "It's Good to Be the King" on July 25, 2023

On Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom and streamed to the Kingsley Room, join us for a virtual program about one great entertainer: Mel Brooks.

After getting his start as a Catskill resort tummler, he proved his genius writing for TV’s Your Show of Shows before creating some of the greatest comic films of our time. From The Producers and Young Frankenstein to Blazing Saddles, a look at how Brooks has offended and delighted, earning his place as a national comic treasure.

Entertainment historian John Kenrick has worked in the theatre at every level from amateur to Broadway, eventually serving as personal assistant to six Tony Award winning producers, including the team behind the original production of Rent. He has taught musical theatre history courses at New York University’s Steinhardt School, The New School University, and Philadelphia’s University of the Arts.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this program is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency.
