11/30/2023 - Southbury Library Seeking Submissions for a Tiny Art Show

The Southbury Public Library invites interested community members of all ages to submit artwork to their first ever Tiny Art Show; all submissions must be on supplied 4x4” canvases and are due between Wednesday, December 27, 2023 and Thursday, February 15, 2024. Submitted artwork will be included in a Tiny Art Show on display in the Teen Department of the Southbury Public Library from Thursday, February 22, 2024 through Friday, March 22, 2024.

Submission requirements:

  • All submissions must be submitted between Wednesday, December 27, 2023 and Thursday, February 15, 2024 to the Second Floor Circulation Desk of the Southbury Public Library.
  • Submissions must be on supplied 4x4” canvases, but can be any medium or style as long as they are on or attached to the provided canvas.
  • There is no age or town residency requirement for submitting artists.

Plain 4x4” canvases will be available for pickup starting Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from the Second Floor Circulation Desk and continuing throughout the submission period. Limited amounts of kits with canvases, acrylic paint, and brushes will be available to be picked up on a first come, first serve basis on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 and Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

The Southbury Public Library will be hosting drop-in paint sessions for those who would like to work in a group setting on Thursday, January 25, 2024. There will be a 2:30-5:30pm session for teens and adults in the Brown Room and a 4:30-7:30pm session in the Storytime Room for children, teens, and families. Supplies including canvases and paint will be available during both drop-in paint sessions; no registration is required.

All submissions are due by 9pm on Thursday, February 15, 2024 to the Second Floor Circulation Desk of the Southbury Public Library.

Artwork will be on display in the Teen Department beginning Thursday, February 22, 2024 and continuing through Friday, March 22, 2024.

This Tiny Art Show is the Senior Year Experience Project of Pomperaug High School Senior Trey Brattain. Trey has volunteered with the Southbury Public Library since May 2022. His interests include competitive fencing, computer technology, and art.

The Tiny Art Show is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.
