On Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 1:00 - 2:30pm in the Kingsley Room, join us to learn more about the Rochambeau route in the Southbury area.
What roads did the French Army take to get through Southbury during the Revolutionary War? It’s a question frequently asked by local residents. It’s a question not easily answered though. Only by a systematic analysis of period journals, maps, surveys, correspondence, and a dive into the local land records can one come up with a satisfactory answer.
Join us to learn if the French Expeditionary Force passed through your neighborhood.
John Dwyer and his family came to Southbury in 1984 to move into his wife's, Lynn, ancestral home. Their children were the 8th generation descendants to live there. The proximity to this heritage spurred an interest in antiquities into a study of local history.
Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this program is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is requested. Please visit the link below for more information and to register.
