9/23/2024 - Shot Heard Round the World on October 29, 2024

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom, join us for a virtual program and learn more about the start of World War I. June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his Countess Sophie were assassinated in Sarajevo for ardent Serbian nationalists. Join us as Mark Albertson explores the beginning of World War I. A war that will result in the extinction of monarchical rule and pave the way for Bolshevism, Fascism, Nazism and foster the extension of industrialized militarism.

Mark Albertson is the historical research editor for the Army Aviation magazine, and the historian for the Army Aviation Association of America. He has taught classes on military history at Norwalk Community College as well as the Lifetime Learners Institute. Albertson has authored several books on military history.
