1/13/2025 - Unsung Heroes of The Civil Rights Era on February 11, 2025

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom, join us for a virtual program and learn more about the lesser known heroes of the civil rights era.

We've all heard of Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks and Malcolm X--each household names for their involvement with the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. But this Black History Month, join us as we explore the lives of some of the unsung heroes who helped re-shape the American scene.

Led by Dr. Bill Thierfelder, a retired college professor who taught a variety of Arts and Humanities courses for 32 years at several New York universities and colleges, including St. John's University and Dowling College. He holds a Ph.D. in English, with minors in theater, art history and music history.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this program is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library. Registration is required. Zoom invitation links will be sent via email on the day of the program.
