1/29/2025 - A History of Huskies Hoops: Legacy of Greatness on February 22, 2025

On Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 1:00- 2:00pm in the Multipurpose Room of Southbury Parks and Recreation, join us to learn more UConn basketball.

Celebrate the history and greatness of the UConn basketball teams with this fun, lively and enlightening presentation hosted by award-winning sportswriter and author Marty Gitlin. Take a journey from the beginning of the men's and women's programs to the present with video highlights of their greatest teams, players and events from the turn of the twentieth century to today.

Martin (Marty) Gitlin is an author and pop culture historian. He has written a number of books on topics ranging from the history of animation, Princess Diana and sports teams. Gitlin worked for two decades as a sportswriter, during which time he won more than 45 awards, including first place for general excellence from Associated Press.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library. Registration is required. Please visit the link below for more information and to register.
