10/22/2021 - Southbury Economic Development Director to Join CEDAS Board

The Economic Development Director for the Town of Southbury, Kevin Bielmeier, has been elected to join the board of directors of the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) for the 2022 term. The announcement was made at CEDAS’ annual meeting, held on Wednesday, October 20th at UCONN’s Avery Point campus in Groton, CT.

CEDAS originated as the Connecticut Association of Municipal Development Commissions (CAMDC) in 1962. During the 1990s the name was changed and today, CEDAS is the premiere association for economic development professionals, providing a forum for the economic development community and sponsoring educational programs and seminars to benefit those in the field, working closely with other state-wide agencies, including the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).

Mr. Bielmeier joined CEDAS in 2016, then serving as New Milford’s economic development director. He went on to work for AdvanceCT (formerly called CERC) providing economic development services for multiple municipalities throughout the state, before being hired as Southbury’s first economic development director two years ago this week.
