8/16/2024 - Charter Revision Commission Seeks Input

Every five years the citizens of Southbury are given an opportunity to provide input to possible changes in the town charter, which documents the way our town operates and is governed. The 2024 Southbury Charter Revision Commission was recently created and populated to collect information in order to organize and recommend any alterations to this document to the Board of Selectmen, and later to the public for a referendum vote in late 2025.

An initial Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 7pm, in Room 205 at Southbury Town Hall where eligible voters can attend and express any desired changes to the way the town operates. Each person will be allowed to speak about their proposal for 5 minutes. Written input may also be presented by email to CharterRevision@southbury-ct.gov or entered onto a special web page form located at www.southbury-ct.org/charter-revision-submission. Please include your name, address, and contact information during submission.

In addition to public input suggestions, information will also be gathered from town employees and town government volunteers as part of this endeavor.

We, the members of the 2024 Charter Revision Commission want and need your input to make this a success. Please consider expressing or sending your comments and concerns using these various methods to us. We look forward to your input.
