Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 29, 2023; 11:00am

Southbury's annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 11:00 am on Monday, May 30! The parade begins at Pomperaug Office Park and continues down Main Street South to the Veterans Memorial Green. (Between the Town Hall and the Parks and Rec/Senior Center Building.) The Ceremony will follow.


Annual Family Day Picnic

Monday, May 29, 2023; 12:00pm

Ballantine Park Field, 611 Old Field Road

Immediately following the parade is the Annual Family Day Picnic at Ballantine Park, 611 Old Field Road.

The picnic starts at 12 noon and will run until 3:00 p.m. We will have a variety of activities going on throughout the day. There will be inflatables, face painting, bubbles, music, food and more.

Boy Scout Troop 1607 will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks throughout the day for all to enjoy. You can buy food from them or bring your own. Veterans will receive a free meal compliments of the Troop.

There is no charge for the Family Day Picnic.


Monday Concert Series

Town Hall Green, 501 Main Street South

Concerts are free and open to the public. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. In case of rain, the concerts will be cancelled. All concerts will be held on the green next to Southbury Town Hall. Park at 561 Main Street South, Pomperaug Elementary or at the lower parking lot of Town Hall. 

July 10: 6:00-8:00 pm “MODAL EXPRESS”

A satisfying collection of familiar songs from Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers, Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Don Henley and a variety of Motown and R&B gives their sound both a danceability and an immersive listening experience. The members of this band are seasoned players who find joy in recreating these textured songs; a joy they share with the audience. They WILL make you move. And for those who remember putting on the headphones, closing your eyes and diving in… they’ll entice you to listen.

July 17: 6:00 – 8:00 pm “LE’MIXX BAND"

“Le’Mixx Band” is an eight-piece high energy classic R&B, soul, funk and reggae review band. With their wide array of music covering many genres from Marvin Gaye to the Beatles, they are always the crowd pleaser. Past performances by “Le'Mixx” include events such as the Governor's Ball, the Hartford Mayor's Ball, and the Jerry Lewis telethon fundraiser. With over 30 years of experience between its eclectic mix of band members, you can bet that this band will have everybody up dancing.

July 24: 6:00-8:00 pm "CLEARVIEW”

Celebrate with the original 3 members as they play together for 20 plus years and whose sound is enhanced by the addition of a plethora of new talent. Clearview plays a wide range of musical genres, from Allman Brothers to ZZ Top, including classic rock, blues, country, folk, Motown jazz, and funk. Clearview aims to bring smiles to their listeners’ faces.

July 31: 6:00-8:00 pm “THE RAKES”

The Rakes are a band of 5 friends who have as much fun perfecting their songs as they do preforming them; and it shows. Exceptional vocals are at the forefront with solid backing musicianship that compliments rather than distracts. Covering a diverse selection of genre jumping music a Rakes gig is a guaranteed good time. At their core, The Rakes are a countryish Americana band. But as you will quickly learn they defy the "country" label. Mixing classic rock, a little soul, a dash of blues, a "90's" music and even a little hip hop The Rakes exhibit broad appeal as they truly play something for just about everyone.


Outdoor Movie Night

Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 6:30pm

There will be a live entertainment, outdoor movie, and snacks! Popcorn and water will be available for purchase throughout the night. Entertainment will begin around 6:30 PM with the Mattatuck Fife & Drum Band. The movie “Strange World” will begin at 8:00 p.m. or when dark.

It is free to attend. Bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the movie.
