MESSAGE FROM P&R DIRECTOR
Hello everyone,
We are in my favorite month of the year where the days are long, the house is messy because we’re rarely home, and dinner can be picked in bare feet from the garden in the back yard. I hope you are enjoying this month too! Thank-you to Southbury’s own Lucky Dog Food truck and One Track Mind who started our Monday night concert series at Settlers Park this week. Our next band is The Sun Kings, a Beatles tribute band, who is playing this Monday July 20th. The music is from 6-8PM, but you’ll want to arrive early to get parking in the main lot. Overflow parking is available in the back lot adjacent to the golf course. Friendly reminder that there is no smoking at our parks nor during the concert. We will have D’Andrea’s Deli food truck at the next concert, so you don’t even have to pack dinner. Normally our parks require you to carry out what you carry in, but we do have garbage cans at the concerts for you.
Thank-you to everyone who has purchased pool passes and sent your children to our summer camps. Our lifeguards and camp counselors are enjoying your company and your kids! We have sent the kids to Six Flags, the CT Sports Center, Brownstone Adventure Park, The Bronx Zoo, Dave & Busters, and more! Yesterday Ballantine Park was turned into a Laser Tag field for our younger campers. And beginning July 25th, Polar Sweets Ice Cream truck will be selling ice cream on Saturdays at the town pool from 3-4PM. We are excited for the many more adventures to come! Stay cool everyone!

MIDDLE SCHOOL POOL PARTY - July 31, 2026; 6:00pm-8:00pm
All rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders are invited for a fun evening at the pool! There will be games, music and snacks. Residents and non-residents welcome.
Parents may drop their child at the pool at 6pm, with an 8pm pickup. Admission is $5. New this year: sign up ahead of time now and pay online or pay at the door.
FAMILY DAY POOL PARTY - August 1, 2026; 2:00pm-6:00pm
We invite all pool members and Southbury residents to the Town Pool for fun day of games and activities, as well as lounging and lazing, at the pool. Admission is free for all Southbury residents, no membership is required! See website for more information.
WELCOMING WATERS - August 21, 2026; 7:00pm-8:30pm
During this dedicated swim time, the pool will provide a quieter, more relaxed environment with reduced noise and distractions, allowing participants to enjoy the water at their own pace. Whether you want to swim, exercise, socialize, or simply cool off, everyone is welcome.

MID-SEASON POOL CHANGES
Beginning July 25th, Polar Sweets Ice Cream truck will be selling ice cream on Saturdays from 3:00pm-4:00pm. Additionally, we will be discounting our Summer Pool Memberships by 50% starting August 2nd. Beginning August 17th, the pool will be open daily from 11-7, seven days a week. See website for updates.
ONGOING POOL PROGRAMS
Our Toddler Tuesday and Friday Water aerobics classes will continue through July and into August. They are FREE for pool members. Check them out if you haven’t already, register now – spots fill up fast!!
SUMMER CONCERT SERIES - Monday Nights in July
There are two more concerts in our Summer Concert series: Sun Kings – A Beatles Tribute and My Brother’s Band. Bring your chair and enjoy the shows!
SAFETY AND SELF DEFENSE - August 1, 2026; 1:00pm-4:00pm
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn approaches for avoiding violent encounters and some basic techniques for defending yourself physically when you need to.
A counselor will be in attendance to assist with any PTS that comes up during the class.
All proceeds will be donated to Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury, a non-profit organization that services Southbury to provide emergency shelter and free comprehensive support to victims and survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault.

BACK YARD SPORTS & FITNESS CAMP
Backyard Sports & Fitness Camp will focus on all the fun backyard games have to offer! Some examples include: kickball, capture the flag, and different forms of dodge ball. This is a great way to connect with peers while playing classic backyard games.
