Southbury Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Arts and Culture Subcommittee of the Southbury Economic Development Commission (ACSSEDC) is having its first collaborated special event: Art in the Park! This event is free to attend and will be held on THIS Saturday, May 6 from 10am to 2pm.

Location/Details

Event is at Ballantine Park located at 611 Old Field Road. In the event of rain or bad weather, this event will be held indoors at the Southbury Parks and Recreation Building on 561 Main Street South. (To check the status of the rain location, visit the MyRec website and look for the red “ALERT” banner at the top of the page.)

Overview of this Free Event

Join us for a day of free arts & crafts projects and recreational activities. Learn a new technique while you create your own art or try your hand at a free craft project.

There will be free raffle drawings for prizes and free participation in crafts and activities. Food trucks will be on-site for you to purchase a quick lunch, including: Lucky’s World Famous Hot Dogs, Szabo's Seafood, and an Italian Ice cart!

The ACSSEDC will offer fun art projects and activities suitable for all ages featuring a community doodle project, tissue paper stained glass craft (for Mother's Day), and brief painting tutorials on easels and canvases. The ACSSEDC and Southbury Parks and Recreation's painting instructor, Claire, will work together on the painting project!
