September-October 2023 News

MESSAGE FROM P&R DIRECTOR

I would like to thank our patrons for helping us make this past summer one of our busiest summers to date. From youth camps to adult co-ed softball; from weekly concerts to movie night; from Art in the Park to the upcoming Southbury Celebration on September 9, you are there to participate and to support our endeavors. THANK YOU. THANK YOU!

Now that fall is in the air and schools are back in session, fall sports are upon us and winter sports will soon follow. Please continue to be a good spectator by following these 6 suggestions courtesy of sportsengine.com:

  1. Cheer, don’t coach
  2. Cheer for the whole team, not just your player
  3. Stay positive
  4. Don’t hassle the officials
  5. Don’t trash talk the opposing team
  6. Avoid getting into arguments with other spectators

Also, when visiting our parks, fields or courts, please remember to follow any posted rules, to “carry out what you carry in” and to park in designated areas. When each of us does our small parts, our parks, our facilities and our community at large are greatly rewarded.
