MESSAGE FROM P&R SUPERVISOR

Southbury Parks and Recreation department have been working with volunteers, various organizations and town employees to transform the historical 'Spring Egg Hunt' into this year’s 'Spring Extravaganza'. This special event will feature several craft and activity stations, photo opportunities, and, of course, candy hunts! See below for details.

We had an overwhelmingly positive response to our new programs this year. The multi-generational Pokémon Go Bus Tour has served patrons ranging in age from 11 to 66! Pokémon trainers in the community are able to learn from each other as they play together. I’d like to thank the Southbury Senior Center for providing their bus and the wonderful driver Dennis for those events! And during February Vacation Camp, children were able to play outside in the snow. This activity may seem simple, yet we always look for programs to provide children with different activities in recreation.

The warmer months will soon be upon us. We anticipate that the summer pool memberships, swim lessons, and swim team will be open for enrollment by the end of April. Registrations for our summer camps are currently open for residents of Southbury and non-residents can register starting on March 1st. We are thrilled to announce that both Adventure Day Camp and TeenScape Camp will have an additional short week of activities called “Pre-Camp”.

Lastly, the new pickleball program and league will be offered this year. For other sports leagues in town, check out the list at www.southbury-ct.org/sports.

I look forward to seeing the community members at our upcoming programs and events!
