3/22/2024 - Spring Extravaganza - RAIN OR SHINE - March 23, 2024

The Spring Extravaganza is tomorrow, rain or shine, at the Parks and Recreation building. Candy hunt location (outdoor vs indoor) will be posted on our website at 9am on Saturday.

 

Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 

Activities taking place:

  • Candy Hunts separated by ages: 4 and under and 5 and up (traditional candy-filled eggs and bagged kosher candies placed out for children to collect)
  • Spring and Holiday themed crafts
  • Educational Information booths
  • Decorated spring scenes for photo opportunities with a bunny and our photo booth with props
  • Non-perishable food collection for the Southbury Food Bank

Time:

  • 10:00 am to 11:00 am: Sensory-friendly activities and candy hunts for those who require accommodations will be inside the Parks and Recreation/ Senior Center Building, including the Candy Hunt.
    NOTE: The final sensory-friendly Spring Hunt will be at 10:30 am.
  • 11:00 am to 1:45 pm: Activities inside the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building will include games, activities, and crafts. The Candy Hunt will take place on the field behind Pomperaug Elementary School, weather permitting. (The Candy Hunt may be moved inside the Pomperaug Elementary School gym in case of inclement weather.)
    • Candy Hunt Times (arrive 10 minutes before): 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm SHARP!
      NOTE: Last entry into the building will be at 1:45 pm with all activities wrapping up at 2:00 pm.

What to bring:

Location:

  • Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building at 561 Main Street South. The Candy Hunt will take place next door, staff will be available to direct you.

Parking:

  • Patrons may park at one of several locations: Parks and Recreation/Senior Center parking lot, Town Hall lower and upper parking lot, Rochambeau Middle School parking lot and/or Pomperaug Elementary School parking lot.
  • There will be a designated handicapped parking and drop-off area for people with accessibility needs in front of the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building monitored by our staff.
