Mr. Jim Santorelli has coached 13 National Champions and has 35 years of experience teaching children and adults. He is bringing his successful teaching skills to Southbury Parks & Recreation and teaches 2 different programs.
Checkmate! (Ages 6-14). From Beginner to Intermediate Level: Beginners will learn how to play the game of chess along with basic strategies. Advanced beginners to intermediate will be taught all phases of tournament play.
Game of Kings (Ages 15 & up). Beginners will learn how to play the game of chess along with basic strategies. Advanced beginners to intermediate will be taught all phases of tournament play

Roblox Game Development - Ages 7+
Anyone can build a game in Roblox! Roblox studio has all the tools to make your wildest gaming imaginations a reality. You tell us what game you want to make, and we'll teach you the fundamentals and coach you through bringing that game to life! Whether you're new to coding or have some experience, you will be challenged and have fun while bringing your game to life.
Minecraft Coding - Ages 7+
Explore, create or survive! Mine deep into the Minecraft world and create the future! In our modding with Minecraft course, you'll challenge the odds, craft your kinds of weapons and build dream worlds using code. You will do this while learning fundamental programming concepts, level design, and problem-solving skills. You will use ready-made coding blocks to create mini versions of Minecraft games throughout the course.
All classes will take place online. A zoom meeting number and code will be emailed to you upon registration, please ensure you provide the best email for this communication. When logging in, ensure your Internet connection is stable and your workstation is prepared! A PC or Mac is required.
