Community Park Tennis Courts Ribbon Cutting - May 18, 2026

The Community Park tennis courts are officially re-opened after being swept away in the August 2024 flood. Over the past 20 months, the town worked with FEMA to get reimbursed for the courts, however FEMA typically reimburses municipalities for only 75% of disaster related costs. Thanks to a grant from the New England U.S. Tennis Association (USTA), we were able to get our courts fully restored with post tension rods, which dramatically reduces long-term maintenance costs with their ability to resist damage from shifting soil and eliminate structural cracking.

Southbury First Selectman Tim O'Neil officially cut the ribbon. He was joined by President of USTA Connecticut Miyako Kinoshita, Southbury Selectwoman Kelly Keenan, Southbury Parks and Recreation Commission's chairman Charlie Rosa, and commission member Jim Tornatore, Parks and Recreation Department Director Meghan Lennon and Recreation Supervisor Tara McCauley, Southbury Finance Director Dan Colton, and members of the public.

We welcome our community to come out and enjoy the new courts. Courts can be reserved for $2 per hour on MyRec, otherwise they are first come, first served.
