On September 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Pavilion in Ballantine Park, the Volunteer Appreciation Committee will be hosting an afternoon filled with community spirit, food and fun.
The Town of Southbury is excited to announce that its’ Volunteer Appreciation Event this year will be held on September 22, 2024. Our honorees will be ALL of the wonderful townspeople within our community, with a special acknowledgement to Southbury’s First Responders. The Volunteer Appreciation Committee recognizes that many of our Southburians have gone above and beyond assisting their neighbors, and friends through tough times, during and after the flood that devastated so many. We feel that we would be remiss not to say ‘Thank You’ to each and every one of our community members for the effort and kindness displayed during this natural disaster.
Please join us to honor the kindness that Southbury’s first responders and residents have shown to each other during Southbury’s Volunteer Appreciation BBQ and Get-Together. This event is open to everyone who has given their time to help others no matter how great or how small. We truly are “A Town That Runs on Volunteers”.
As has become a tradition at this event, The Knight of Columbus will be serving the town and barbequing for us.
During this event, community members will have a chance to say ‘hello’ and network with other community members. We anticipate that there will be opportunities to chat and ‘schmooze’ with many members of the Towns boards and commissions as well.
This year’s theme is ‘COMMUNITY’. With this in mind we are requesting that attendees help support those less fortunate than ourselves by bringing to the ‘Event’ a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Southbury Food Bank and will be distributed by them.
The event is free but advance registration is required. Please register below.
For more information, please contact Michelle Rosen of the Volunteer Appreciation Committee through the office of the First Selectman at 203-262-0647.
