Mission/General Information
The Road Study Committee has provided direction to the Town’s roadway improvement program for over forty years. Comprised of four members of the general public and supported by staff from the Land Use Department, the Public Works Department and the Selectman’s Office the Road Study Committee is responsible for assessing road condition, evaluating maintenance and repair options, determining a program strategy, establishing priorities, formulating a short term (one year) and a long term (five year) plan and developing a budget recommendation. Upon approval of the road improvement budget, the Road Study then guides and assists the Department of Public Works in administering the implementation of the construction and maintenance operations resulting from their work.
The Road Study Committee meets several times during late winter and early spring to appraise the success of the current work and to prepare the plan for the upcoming construction season.
