Southbury residents and businesses, it’s time to light up the season! Enter our 4th annual Holiday House Lights Contest by decorating your home or business with festive lights and displays. Show off your holiday spirit and spread some cheer with our community! Entry into this contest is free. Let's make Southbury shine bright this holiday season.

Once your house or business is decorated, please fill out our entry form at southbury-ct.org/holidaylights.

A requirement for submission is taking a video or photo of your home/business and submitting the photo/video with your entry form. You also must select which category you are entering.
Entries must be submitted by Monday, December 9.
NOTE: If your photo/video is too blurry your entry will not be considered for judging.

Contest categories include, but are not limited to:

  • Merry & Bright (best use of lights)
  • The North Pole (best North Pole design)
  • Gingerbread Village (Heritage Village entries only)
  • Santa’s Workshop (best use of holiday décor - local business category only)
  • Winter Wonderland (best winter themed decor)
  • Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree (best use of music, inflatables & technology)

Please keep in mind, submitted photos of houses and local businesses may be posted on social media, flyers, and brochures for Southbury Parks and Recreation and Town of Southbury marketing purposes.

The winners of the contest will be announced the week of 12/16. Participants who opt in will have their address posted to the Town of Southbury’s Facebook Page and website, for all community members to enjoy.

Eligibility for this contest is limited to Southbury residents and Southbury businesses.

LETTERS TO SANTA - by December 12, 2024

mailbox for letters to santa

If your child writes to Santa Claus, Santa will return a letter to your child!

Santa wrote a letter to the children and, at his request, we’ve created a template return letter for children to use - check the website for details. Santa still welcomes handwritten letters and even pictures! Parents/Guardians are recommended to make sure that the mailing address is legible.

Participants can drop off letters in the Southbury Parks and Recreation's drop box, right outside our office doors (before you enter the building) on 561 Main Street South, Southbury.

In order to get them to the North Pole in time, the deadline to drop off the letters is Thursday, December 12.
