From the Office of the Southbury First Selectman:
As our community continues to recover from the recent storm, we want to assure all residents that your safety and well-being remain our top priority. Our teams are actively assessing the extent of the damage across town, with a focus on addressing the most pressing public safety concerns first. We are fully aware of the challenges that this situation has created, particularly the difficulty of travel within our town, and we deeply appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to restore normalcy.
Our town officials are collaborating closely with personnel from all relevant agencies, including utility companies, public safety teams, health services, and construction crews. Each day, we set clear milestones, and each day, we are meeting them as we work towards rebuilding and restoring our community. These efforts are coordinated to ensure that we address both the immediate hazards and the long-term recovery needs of our town.
However, we must emphasize that conditions remain hazardous in many areas. For your safety, we strongly urge all residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Downed power lines, unstable structures, and debris continue to pose serious risks, and we ask for your cooperation in staying clear of these dangers until our crews have had the chance to secure and clear affected areas.
We understand the frustrations and difficulties this situation may bring, but please know that every available resource is being deployed to ensure a swift and safe recovery. To the best of our ability, we will continue to provide regular updates as we make progress. These updates will be released at approximately 4:00 PM daily, while we remain in a state of emergency.
We ask that you continue to stay informed through our official communication channels and follow any guidance from local authorities. Together, we will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger as a community.
