The Southbury Public Library invites interested adults and teens in Grades 6-12 to join us for our Trans 101 Talk with Jillian Celentano on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 7-8pm in the Kingsley Room of the Southbury Public Library.
If you have wondered about what it means to be transgender or nonbinary and would like to learn more, join us for this friendly and approachable in person talk with Jillian Celentano. Learn the basics of what transgender and nonbinary mean, what’s up with pronouns, and other language and terminology. She’ll also cover working with parents and families, gender journeys, and body dysphoria. This is an in-person talk open to adults and teens in Grades 6-12 and suitable for both age groups.
Jillian is a transgender woman who began her transition in 2015. She is an author, an advocate for the transgender community, a mentor for trans youth, and has organized support groups for transgender children and young adults. Jillian is currently involved in two transgender studies at Yale and has interned at the Yale Gender Program for two years. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Albertus Magnus College and completed her Master's Degree in Social Work at Southern Connecticut University this past May. Her new book, Transitioning Later in Life: A Personal Guide, is now available on Amazon.
Registration is encouraged. Learn more and register on the library’s website at www.southburylibrary.org/events.
